Certifications and Awards

We are particularly proud of Ciparo’s clean slate all these years since its establishment in 1992. Thanks to Ciparo’s good conduct, we hold all necessary licenses and certifications for exporting waste. We have also received recognition and awards for our overall performance as a company from Dutch and Chinese media alike.

Certificates & Licenses

Police Clearance Certificate (in 2004 and in 2013)

NIWO (Dutch Foundation of National and International Road Transport).
Ciparo is authorized to transport waste in the Netherlands.

Ciparo’s licence for registration for overseas supplier enterprise of imported solid wastes as raw materials in China.

OVAM (Belgium)
OVAM stands for Public Waste Agency of Flanders (Openbare Afvalstoffenmaatschappij voor het Vlaams Gewest) which is responsible for waste management and soil remediation in Flanders.

The Environment Agency (UK)
Ciparo is authorised to transport waste from and towards the UK.

Northern Ireland Environment Agency
Ciparo is allowed to transport waste from and towards Northern Ireland.

National Transfrontier Shipment Office (Ireland) The National Transfrontier Shipment Office (TFS) is responsible for regulating the movement of waste between EU Member States and between the EU and other countries

53 KrWG (Germany)
The Waste Management Act (KrWG), Germany’s main waste disposal statute, regulates the transportation of waste from and towards Germany. The Article 53, declares a new regulation for companies that collect, transport, deal in, or act as middlemen, like Ciparo, in connection with waste.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certificate (since June 2010)
Ciparo’s management system for the purchase, sales and logistic processing of recyclable raw materials and half-products (paper and plastic) is in line with the latest international standards. This for us is a recognition of our devotion to satisfy our customers and of our effort to minimize our environmental impact.

Members of FNOI

OPK Certificate from FNOI (Federation of Dutch Recovered Paper Industry)
The FNOI is an independent industry association that protects the interests of the companies involved in the paper recycling industry. Due to the technological developments as well as the growing importance of environmental problems in this specific industry, it is necessary for such an industry association to exist. With over 95% of the Dutch recycling industry being members of its network, the FNOI is an important partner in discussions with the government, ministries, regional authorities and other organizations. Among the companies that have joined the FNOI, there is a growing amount of those registered at the ISO. The Dutch recycling industry has its own environmental system in which Ciparo has actively participated for years.

Awards and Recognition

Ciparo’s presence, performance and social responsibility is recognized both in China and abroad.

Cathay Pacific China Business Awards / Nominated and won (2010)
The Cathay Pacific China Business Award is granted annually to a Dutch company in recognition of its successes in China over the preceding two years. The winning company must have distinguished itself from its competitors through innovation, creativity, profitability and corporate sustainability and must have managed not only to survive, but to thrive in the complex and constantly changing Chinese market.

Ernst and Young (2005)
Joris de Caluwé was nominated in 2005 for the prestige award “Entrepreneur of the year 2005” contest, organised by Ernst & Young.

Ciparo’s good reputation has also received press coverage by Dutch and Chinese media (Elsevier, Recycling Today International and others). Ciparo appeared also on the Dutch TV show “De Rekenkamer” (“The Audit Room) which aired on KRO in 2011, in an episode about the waste paper trade and China’s recycling industry.
